Friday question

Yesterday, some progress was reported in the debt-ceiling negotiations led by Vice President Joe Biden. However, the White House still wants tax hikes that Republicans have rejected. The White House may want a deal on Medicare while Democratic lawmakers would like to keep that issue burning for the campaign. Republicans want steep cuts in domestic spending that Democrats view as unacceptable. What sort of deal, if any, do you think will emerge and, with the tanking economy, will the talks conclude successfully sooner than anticipated?

Remember, all answers must be in by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday.
