l Scholar Leon Aron says Vasily Grossman’s “Life and Fate” is “the greatest Russian novel of the twentieth century.”

l Duncan Jones’s “Source Code” was excellent, but I would have ended it 10 minutes earlier.

l UCLA historian Perry Anderson argues that Brazil’s Luiz Inacio da Silva, or Lula, is the greatest democratic statesman of our time. If only his foreign policy weren’t so awful!
