Paul Ryan goes after Democrats’ irresponsibility on Medicare

House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) kicked off a hearing on Medicare with a measured statement on the unsustainability of Medicare as we know it and the Independent Patient Advisory Board:

Health and Human Services Secretary Sebelius seemed in over her head (or purposely trying to evade answering the question) when trying to explain how it is that Medicare Part D has been able through private providers was able to hold down costs:

But give Sebelius credit: she at least agrees the fee-for service plan is unsustainable. I suspect Senate and House Democrats are fuming. So much for the Mediscare canard that keeping the system as is can be achieved. It can’t be. Democratic pols know it; they just think the public can be snowed into thinking otherwise.
