Taffer’s idea: turn the dive into the Corporate Bar and Grill, complete with luxury ice cubes.
The pirates were not pleased. There was a mutiny. The owners turned the place back into a pirate bar. My colleague Tim Carman’s report on the culinary theatrics was bizarre and hilarious:
The owners never had any desire to embrace his concepts. “The reason why they didn’t? Candidly?” the host says in a phone interview. “They want to be pirates.”
Spike TV’s producers obviously think this makes for great TV: They just announced that the Piratz Tavern episode will be the show’s season premiere on July 22. Below is a preview the show just posted. It is wonderfully surreal.
