Pippa Middleton at center of gun scandal

Pippa Middleton, the 27-year-old sister of Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, was photographed in the passenger seat of an Audi convertible in Paris on Monday as the driver brandished a handgun, the Sun reports. According to the British newspaper, the male driver waved the gun and pointed it at a photographer who captured the moment in a photograph that clearly shows the barrel pointed straight on and Pippa smirking in the front seat. (See the photo here)

The incident happened shortly after Middleton attended the 29th birthday party of Paris fashion entrepreneur Arthur de Soultrait, who was seated in the back of the convertible.

A Royal Wedding for the Peeps

It’s that time of year in the Post newsroom, when sugary confections in the form of brightly colored rabbits and chicks absorb our attention. Peeps season has arrived.

The winner of our sixth annual Peeps Diorama contest was revealed Wednesday, and though a newsy Occupeep DC diarama took the first prize, a flood of Peepa Middletons, royal Peep Couples, Kate Middlepeeps and Peep princes flooded the entry field.

Manchester Friday.

The commoner couple sent the queen a letter inviting her to join the celebration after learning she would be be at Manchester town hall, their venue for the day, as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour.

The Manchester Evening News reports the couple was excited to receive a reply from the Palace, thanking them for the invitation. And were shocked then the Queen and Prince Phillip lined up after the ceremony to congratulate the newlyweds.

“I’m a big fan of the royal family. When we found out who the VIP was we wrote to her, a bit light-heartedly, and got a nice letter back from a lady in waiting. We didn’t expect anything further to come from it” the groom told the Evening News.

An amateur videographer caught the exchange, which made a great wedding gift for the couple, the bride said.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, gave her first solo speech today, marking the first time many have heard her soft voice since she uttered a few lines while announcing her engagement with William.

Kate spoke at the opening of the Treehouse, a hospice that she selected along with several other charitable organizations last fall to help as a patron. Although she seemed slightly nervous, Kate flowed through the speech, praising the center as being a “happy place of stability, support and care,” and “a shinning example” for the children’s hospice movement.
