Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, hosted a fundraising dinner last night at St. James’s Palace for the National Memorial Arboretum Appeal. Prince William, who is the patron for the appeal, urged guests to donate to the project to improve the arboretum, which he said has become “the iconic focal point” for the remembrance of the country’s heroes, reports the BBC.
The dinner came after the news that William will be stationed in the Falkland Islands for six weeks in February and March of this coming year. The Ministry of Defense made the announcement Thursday morning, saying the routine deployment is part of the normal course of his training and career as a search and rescue helicopter pilot in the Royal Air Force.
Kate will remain at home, in the two-bedroom “starter apartment” the couple has occupied in Kensington Palace. The palace announced at the beginning of the month, however, that the couple would be moving to a larger apartment — roughly the size of a small mansion, People reports — by the summer of 2013. The announcement of the larger, kid-friendly pad, along with Kate’s polite decline of some peanut paste while touring the UNICEF packaging center in Denmark, have reignited rumors that the duchess is pregnant.
If the gossip holds any merit, Kate is definitely not showing it. She looked as slender and gorgeous as ever yesterday in a silver gown by Jenny Packham. Kate accessorized the Grecian, draped, satin chiffon piece with a poppy broach in honor of Remembrance, or Veterans Day.
Kate’s choices in dresses for such occasions have earned her a spot in Vogue’s “Best Dressed” supplement, unveiled yesterday. Pippa joins her older sister in the edition, which will be available at news stands on Nov. 15.
