No wonder Rick Santorum believes in miracles

Isabella Santorum, the daughter born with a severe genetic disorder called Trisomy 18 to Rick and Karen Santorum over three years ago has already lived nearly 4 times the lifespan her condition predicted.  The little girl’s parents knew when she was still in utero that she would have serious developmental and physical disabilities. They nevertheless welcomed her joyfully despite having many other children to raise and not unlimited resources

Luckily for Bella, she was born sturdy and has survived what some would call heroic medical measures to stabilize and mitigate her handicaps. Her family, with so many stressful commitments, added a particularly intense political race to the mix this year. Just after Christmas, as the race was narrowing, Bella was hospitalized with pneumonia and the family was prepared for the worst. Miraculously, she rallied and came home to her loving family. Coincidentally, in a different kind of miracle, Mr. Santorum’s political aspirations also revived.

Alas, as the seasons progressed and her family was celebrating another Christian holiday, Bella returned to the hospitalPrayers for her are in progress.

Fortunately, the Santorum campaign has announced she is again recovering and is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

In the way these things seem to happen for him, Mr. Santorum is again at a key moment in his campaign.  His candidacy is no longer viable and he must decide if he should withdraw from his home state primary, and effectively end his campaign

He’s had so many miracles, maybe he believes anything can still happen in the race, too.
