Religion, culture wars and the 2012 campaign? Google Plus Hangout with Cathleen Kaveny

Faith and politics have intersected frequently on the road to the 2012 election, and they are likely to do so in the 48 days remaining until Nov. 6.

She The People’s editor Melinda Henneberger and bloggers Mary C. Curtis, Judy Howard Ellis and I talked about the moral and religious questions that have cropped up during this campaign, including the clash between Catholic groups and the Obama administration, with author and scholar Cathleen Kaveny in a Google Hangout Tuesday afternoon.

Kaveny, a professor of law and theology at Notre Dame, wrote about how laws can promote moral values in the United States in her new book, “Law’s Virtues,” which she described to She The People as “pro-life, but not pro-culture wars.” She appeared on the Daily Show last spring to talk about the contraception issue.
