American soccer players abroad: Clint Dempsey scores 50th career goal in English Premier League

American midfielder Clint Dempsey scored on a distant free kick Sunday for Fulham against Sunderland, his 23rd goal in all competitions this season, 17th in the English Premier League in 2011-12 and 50th in league play during his 5 1/2-year Fulham career.
