Clint Dempsey records hat trick for Fulham against Charlton in FA Cup

American midfielder Clint Dempsey continued his sensational English season on Saturday, recording a hat trick in Fulham’s 4-0 victory over third-tier Charlton in an English FA Cup third-round match in London.

Dempsey scored from close range in the eighth and 61st minutes before converting a penalty kick in the 81st to record his first three-goal performance since transferring to the Premier League side from MLS’s New England Revolution five years ago. He also increased his season goal-scoring total in all competitions since August to 12.

Meantime, U.S. World Cup teammate Landon Donovan assisted on Johnny Heitinga’s early header in Everton’s 2-0 FA Cup win over fifth-tier Tamworth.
