Euro 2012 Group B gets its second go-around on Wednesday, as Denmark (three points) faces Portugal (zero points) at noon and the Netherlands (zero points) takes on Germany (three points) at 2:45. Should Denmark and Germany both win, they would claim Group B’s two spots in the knockout round. Both games are on ESPN.
UEFA has put Germany’s fans on warning after they tossed grapefruit-size paper balls at Portugal in the teams’ opener on June 9.
In off-the-field news, the injury toll from Tuesday’s clashes between fans of Poland and Russia has grown to 24. (See video here.) In non-Group B news, France has been listless in the six years since Zinedine Zidane’s retirement.
In Tuesday’s Group A action, Poland picked up a critical point in a 1-1 tie with Russia, and the Czech Republic put Greece in a bad spot with a 2-1 victory.
