Euro 2012: England-Ukraine, France-Sweden complete group play

Euro 2012 group play concludes Tuesday with the final Group D matches, both at 2:45 p.m.: England vs. co-host Ukraine (ESPN) and France vs. Sweden (ESPN2).

France and England, tied at the top of the Group D table with four points apiece, will advance with a win or a draw, though they can move on even with a loss if certain other things happen. Ukraine (three points) will advance only with a victory. Sweden (zero points) has been eliminated from knockout-round consideration.

Here’s a roundup of Group D scenarios and a look at the Euro 2012 tiebreakers, which will be in effect should Ukraine and England tie and Sweden defeat France, or if Ukraine and Sweden win.

Striker Wayne Rooney is back for England after a two-game suspension. “I’m not going to win the Euros on my own,” he said.

On Monday, Spain and Italy advanced out of Group C with victories.
