*D.C. United remained unbeaten (5-0-3) in MLS’s reserve league with a 1-1 draw at New York. United’s goal was scored by Christhyan Najar, Andy Najar’s younger brother, from the academy program. He is 16.

*United’s Dwayne De Rosario and the Canadian national team (2-0-0) are at St. Lucia (0-2-0) today for the third of six matches in the second round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying group play.

*Ahead of tonight’s college match between second-ranked Maryland (11-0-1) and Virginia (6-4-0) in Charlottesville, I profile Terrapins forward Casey Townsend, who, despite pro opportunities, decided to return for his senior season and is now among the nation’s leading scorers.
