Maryland Terrapins No. 1 in Soccer America men’s rankings; unbeaten women’s team is No. 7

Maryland jumped five slots to the No. 1 position in the Soccer America men’s college rankings, while the Terrapins women’s team, which is also unbeaten, slipped four places to No. 7 after settling for a scoreless draw at James Madison.

The men (5-0-0) routed previously perfect Boston College, 4-0, in their ACC opener on Friday night in College Park. On Tuesday night, they will visit Maryland-Baltimore County (2-0-2) in Catonsville — the first meeting between the programs in 11 years.

The Maryland women (6-0-2) open conference play Thursday at No. 17 Virginia (7-1-0).

The national coaches’ polls will be released Tuesday. Maryland is expected to inherit the No. 1 position in the men’s ranking after North Carolina’s 1-0 loss to Virginia Tech. The women will probably land between No. 2 and No. 5.
