Matchnight #16: D.C. United vs. Union

Greetings from RFK Stadium for D.C. United’s MLS match against the first-place Philadelphia Union.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET.

TV: Fox Soccer Channel.

Announcers: JP Dellacamera, Kyle Martino, Brian Dunseth.

Attendance: 12,000-15,000.

United defender Jed Zayner will miss about six weeks after undergoing surgery Friday. All things considered, it’s good news for DCU, which was fearing a 4-6 month absence.

With United on the road the next two weeks, midfielder Fred will say farewell to the home supporters tonight. He will transfer to Australian club Melbourne Heart when the international window opens in mid-July.

Old friends with the Union returning to Washington: Coach Peter Nowak, goalkeepers coach Rob Vartughian (U of Maryland), youth technical director Alecko Eskandarian, team coordinator Josh Gros, midfielder Brian Carroll, defender Danny Califf (U of Maryland), goalkeeper Zac MacMath (U of Maryland), midfielder Justin Mapp.

Back soon with DCU starters and subs.....

DCU LINEUP: Hamid; Kitchen, White, McDonald, Woolard; Najar, Simms, De Rosario, Pontius; Wolff, Davies. Subs: Cronin, Korb, Barklage, King, Fred, Ngwenya, Brettschneider.

Update: Woolard (back spasms) was cleared to play before kickoff, moving Korb to the bench. Burch, initially in the 18, was scratched.
