Matchnight #9: D.C. United vs. FC Dallas

My matchday story focuses on D.C. United captain Dax McCarty, who will confront his former club for the first time.

Jeff Maurer previews the match by “interviewing” DCU muscle and conditioning coach Phineas Bofnar.

The Capital Weather Gang has the gametime forecast.

The D.C. United Women, a second-division club preparing for its first season, has signed U.S. national team midfielder Christine Nairn.

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET.

TV: None in the Washington area. Direct Kick cable/satellite and MatchDay Live online services only. MDL is free this weekend.

It’s been a brutal day so far: Real Salt Lake star Javier Morales was injured on a brutal tackle from behind and David Beckham was involved in a minor car accident on the 405. Morales suffered a broken ankle and dislocation with ligament damage and will miss at least four months.

Of note: United midfielder Branko Boskovic will have surgery this coming week to repair his torn ACL. The timetable remains the same: 4-6 months.

Back soon with United’s lineup and subs.

DCU LINEUP: Hamid; Kitchen, Jakovic, White, Woolard; Najar, King, McCarty, Pontius; Ngwenya, Davies. Subs: Cronin, Korb, Burch, Simms, Fred, Quaranta, Wolff.

Wolff (a lot of minutes; third game in nine days) and Simms (calf) begin on the bench.

Your pregame, in-game and postgame thoughts are encouraged.
