So with the Houston Dynamo and Los Angeles Galaxy capping semifinal series Thursday night, the MLS conference finals Sunday are now set:
Houston at Sporting Kansas City, 5:30 p.m. ET.
Venue: Livestrong Sporting Park, Kansas City, Kan.
TV: Fox Soccer, Fox Deportes.
Regular season: 1-1 in Houston July 16; K.C., 3-0, at home Sept. 10.
Real Salt Lake at Los Angeles, 9 p.m. ET.
Venue: Home Depot Center, Carson, Calif.
TV: ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN3.com.
Regular season: RSL, 4-1, at home March 26; L.A., 2-1, at home Oct. 1.
*After two weeks of preparation — next weekend falls inside a FIFA fixture window -- the winners will meet Nov. 20 at Home Depot Center, 9 p.m. ET (ESPN, Galavision).
Who will reach the final? I’ll go the easy route and pick the home sides. If the Galaxy does go through, Los Angeles would become the first club to play MLS Cup at home (pre-selected as a neutral site) since the New England Revolution in 2002. D.C. United was the first to play for the title in front of the home crowd (1997).
