Notes from D.C. United’s training session on Tuesday

With Steven Goff relaxing on a beach vacation, I spent Tuesday morning and early afternoon on the auxiliary fields at RFK watching D.C. United practice and getting some sun of my own. So, ha Steve!

The majority of the session consisted of a full-field, 11-vs- 11 scrimmage. The starters scored two first-half goals behind Maicon Santos and Hamdi Salihi, before goals from Stephen King and Chris Pontius pulled things even in the second half.

Starting at forward for the reserves: Jaime Moreno, paired with Josh Wolff for what you must say was a devastatingly experienced front line.

Other notes from practice . . .

* Defender Dejan Jakovic, who was out for Friday’s 4-1 win over Dallas with a groin strain, started in central defense next to Emiliano Dudar in the scrimmage.

* Midfielder Lewis Neal, who has been waiting in his native England for a work permit, participated in training today, so it looks as though that permit has been finalized.

* Midfielder Andy Najar is back in town after playing in the Olympic qualifier final with Honduras on Monday night. It is not certain whether Najar will train tomorrow, but he is presumably available for Saturday’s game against the Seattle Sounders.

* Goalkeeper Bill Hamid (ankle) did work off to the side today.
