Sacha Kljestan & Brek Shea added to U.S. roster for Italy friendly; Landon Donovan among four to drop out

Just days before the U.S. national soccer team is to play Italy, Coach Juergen Klinsmann has had to scramble to fill out his roster.

Landon Donovan (bronchitis), Jermaine Jones (calf), Timothy Chandler (hamstring) and Jose Torres (hamstring) have been scratched in the past 24 hours. Sacha Kljestan and Brek Shea were summoned Sunday, and other additions are possible Monday.

Kljestan, a starter at Belgian leader Anderlecht, received his first call-up since September. Shea was scheduled to play for the U.S. under-23 squad against Mexico on Wednesday at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Tex. Instead, he will arrive in Genoa on Monday for Wednesday’s friendly against the Azzurri.
