It came in a scrimmage against Bayer Leverkusen’s under-23 squad, but Terrence Boyd’s goal in the 72nd minute Wednesday was impressive nonetheless. He later hit the post. Leverkusen drew even on a late free kick. Boyd, a 20-year-old forward for Borussia Dortmund, is, like several other U.S. players, the son of an American serviceman and grew up in Germany. He also scored for the USA U-23s last weekend and has emerged as a prime striking candidate for the Olympic qualifying effort.
