D.C. United 1, Houston Dynamo 1

MLS Cup 2012 is the same as MLS Cup 2011:

Houston Dynamo vs. Los Angeles Galaxy at Home Depot Center

Dec. 1, 4:30 p.m. ET, ESPN.

HDC was the predetermined venue last year, and the Galaxy happened to advance to the final. This year the finalist with the most points in the regular season earned hosting rights.

Advantage: Galaxy. However, in the playoffs, home teams were hardly invincible, posting a 6-5-3 record. Los Angeles at home defeated Vancouver, lost to San Jose and beat Seattle. Houston on the road defeated Chicago, lost at Kansas City and drew at D.C.

In the Supporters’ Shield race, the Galaxy (54 points) was eighth, the Dynamo (53) ninth.

The clubs met once in the regular season: Dynamo 2, Galaxy 1 at BBVA Compass Stadium on May 26. An own goal and an Andre Hainault header cancelled out Edson Buddle‘s early goal.
