MLS Cup: Galaxy vs. Dynamo

December 1, 2012

We have reached the end of MLS’s 17th season, a campaign that began with training camps in late January and concludes at Home Depot Center on the first day of December with a championship rematch between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo.

TV: ESPN, Telefutura, 4:30 p.m. ET.

Kickoff: 4:55 p.m.

Announcers: Adrian Healey, Taylor Twellman.

Referee: Silviu Petrescu.

Weather at kickoff: 67 degrees, cloudy, 75 percent humidity, 10 percent chance of rain.

For my 17th MLS Cup, joining Soccer America’s Ridge Mahoney and New York-based scribe Michael Lewis as the only reporters to attend every final, I wrote about — what else? — David Beckham’s farewell and legacy. The story received prominent play on the front of the print edition.

The last MLS travelogue culinary recommendation of the year: Soba noodles with tempura at I-naba in Torrance.

HOU lineup: Hall; Sarkodie, Boswell, Taylor, Ashe; Garcia, Clark, Moffat, Davis; Bruin, Carr. Subs: Deric, Hainault, Barnes, Camargo, Kandji, Weaver, Ching.

LA lineup: Saunders; Franklin, Gonzalez, Meyer, Dunivant; Wilhelmsson, Juninho, Beckham, Magee; Donovan, Keane. Subs: Perk, DeLaGarza, Gaul, Stephens, Sarvas, Noonan, Buddle.
