D.C. United routs Tampa Bay Rowdies, 4-0

February 9, 2013

Colombian forward Lionard Pajoy scored twice in three minutes and first-round draft pick Taylor Kemp had two in a seven-minute stretch Saturday as D.C. United cracked open a scoreless match in the second half and defeated the second-division Tampa Bay Rowdies, 4-0, in Kissimmee, Fla.

Pajoy opened the scoring with an angled, seven-yard header on Chris Korb‘s cross, then neatly chipped the goalkeeper from the top of the penalty area. Kemp scored his first with ease, pouncing on a deflection after Ryan Richter crossed toward 16-year-old Michael Seaton at the six-yard box. He added another with a one-timer on Richter’s cross.

United (1-1-1 in preseason) will continue play in the eight-team Disney Pro Soccer Classic on Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City (6 p.m., live streaming video on mlssoccer.com).
