D.C. United ties Montreal Impact, 1-1

February 16, 2013

Kyle Porter, a Canadian midfielder who began a tryout last week, scored on a 19-yard one-timer in the 85th minute Saturday as D.C. United finished group play at the Disney Pro Soccer Classic with a 1-1 draw against the Montreal Impact.

Italian attacker Andrea Pisanu, on loan to Montreal from Bologna, scored on a superb overhead kick in the 16th minute in Kissimmee, Fla.

United (1-1-1 in the event, 1-2-2 overall in preseason) will spend another week in the Orlando area, facing the Philadelphia Union in Deltona, Fla., on Wednesday in a non-tournament game before concluding the tournament next Saturday in a placement match.

Ben Olsen fielded the same starters from the 2-0 loss to Sporting Kansas City last Wednesday — an early indication of his lineup preference for the MLS opener March 2 at Houston.

With 35 players on the preseason roster, Olsen is expected to begin trimming the list in the coming days.

DCU first-half lineup: Hamid; Korb, Jakovic, McDonald, Woolard; DeLeon, Kitchen, Saragosa, Pontius; De Rosario, Pajoy.
