By Wednesday evening, after Uruguay applies the finishing touches on a lopsided playoff series with Jordan, the 32-nation field for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will be complete.

In all, entering Tuesday’s matches, eight slots remain open — although three are essentially settled.
