Seattle Reign 3, Washington Spirit 1


Kendall FletcherKeelin Winters and Jessica Fishlock scored for the Seattle Reign during a 3-1 victory over the Washington Spirit in a National Women’s Soccer League match on Wednesday night. Diana Matheson converted a second-half penalty kick to increase her team-leading total to three for the Spirit (1-2-0), which will visit Chicago (1-0-0) on Saturday. Attendance at Seattle’s Memorial Stadium was 1,754.

Earlier, the Spirit announced forward Tiffany Weimer will miss the season with a torn ACL. “I can’t nutmeg anyone for at least eight months. But I’ll get through it and come back stronger and better.”
