Never mind that Uruguayan soccer star Luis Suarez is banned from all related soccer activities for four months for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chielinni in the World Cup. Because those who covet the controversial player’s skills are still reportedly hard at work.
The latest reports out of England say Liverpool officials will open talks with Barcelona over a possible transfer of Suarez worth nearly $140 million — the amount that was included in Suarez’s $340,000-per-week contract that he signed with Liverpool in December. The Guardian writes:
“The Spanish club have not been deterred in their pursuit of the Uruguay international. …It is understood a delegation led by Barcelona’s director of football management, Raul Sanllehi, will meet Liverpool’s chief executive, Ian Ayre, in London on Wednesday for the opening round of negotiations over the 27-year-old.”
Not only that, Ayre is expected to bring up Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez, who currently plays for Barcelona, and ask that he be included in the deal, the Guardian reports. The paper added:
“Sanchez is valued in the £30 million (roughly $51 million) region by Barcelona but whether the Chile international would be interested in a move to Anfield and what the Catalans are prepared to offer are yet to be determined.”
Indeed, it looks like there is life after Bitegate.
