Watch Neymar’s tearful message to fans

It doesn’t even matter that the message is in Portuguese. The look in Neymar’s eyes says it all. His absence due to a back injury from the rest of Brazil’s run in the World Cup is devastating to both him and his fans.

Here’s the translation via the Daily Mail:

“My World Cup has not ended, it has been interrupted by a play but the tournament goes on and I told my teammates to do everything in order to help me achieve my dream to be world champion.My dream was to play at a World Cup final but I’m certain my teammates will be champions. I will be there with them, and all Brazilians will soon be celebrating all of that.”

Neymar suffered a fractured vertebra after he was kneed in the back by Colombia’s Juan Zuniga during the 88th minute of the team’s quarterfinal match on Friday. Brazil went on to win 2-1 and will meet Germany in the semifinals Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Neymar, meanwhile, has flown to Sao Paulo to be closer to his family as he sets in for a four-to-six-week recovery period.
