James Cameron and submarine stop in DC

‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar’ director James Cameron stopped in Washington, D.C., Tuesday with his submarine, Deepsea Challenger. Capitol Hill was an obvious destination as Cameron worked to drum up interest in deep sea exploration.

The sub will eventually come to rest in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts. Before then it will make a two-day appearance at the National Geographic Society’s building on M Street in advance of the annual Explorers Symposium and Gala Thursday, during which Cameron will be honored along with Felix Baumgartner and Alex Trebek.
