The royal baby’s sign is Cancer

(Note: This post was updated at 4:27 p.m.)

When Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge went into labor this morning many wondered if the royal-to-be would be a Cancer or a Leo. “Right now the baby will still be a Cancer, but the minute we get to 5 p.m. in London, or 12 p.m. eastern standard time, the baby turns into a Leo,” says astrologer Susan Miller. In fact, Baby Cambridge was born at 4:24 p.m. GMT making it just under the Cancer-sign wire.

A July 22 birthday means that he was born on the cusp of both signs. “Babies born on the cusp take qualities of both signs. The royal baby will have the warmth and nurturing of a Cancer and the creativity and leadership of a Leo,” Miller says.

Cancer is the sign of family and a popular sign in the modern royal family – Prince William is a Cancer. Leo is the sign of royalty and leadership, which could be perfect for the new prince. Many U.S. presidents, including President Obama, are Leos.

The planets are also unusually aligned for this royal birth, which can impact his personality. “All the planets are in water signs creating a perfect triangle because it’s pure harmony. Life goes easier for people with these qualities. The child will be kind and be a person of confidence,” Miller says.

But perhaps the most important astrological factor in determining the royal baby’s personality will be its rising sign, which is determined by the time of birth. “The rising sign is critical. It’s the sign you exude naturally and gravitate toward in others.”
