Seth Meyers departs “Saturday Night Live” on Feb. 1, and one month later Cecily Strong will have a new “Weekend Update” co-anchor: Colin Jost will take over for Meyers at the famous desk, NBC confirmed Thursday.

Jost, 31, has been the “SNL” head writer since 2012 and his move to the “Weekend Update” anchor spot continues in the tradition of former head writers Meyers and Tina Fey. Jost joined the show’s writing staff in 2005, a year after graduating from Harvard, where he was president of the Harvard Lampoon.

According to Deadline, Jost (rhymes with host) was behind that Miley Cyrus-as-Michele Bachmann “We Did Stop” government shutdown parody video, along with Kerry Washington’s skit skewering the show’s own lack of diversity, in which she played Michelle Obama and Oprah. To learn more of Jost’s comedy style (which seems a little Seth Meyers-ish to us), here are some of his recent tweets, along with a video of his stand-up below:

Here’s Jost performing a routine on “Late Night” which is where Meyers’ begins as host on Feb. 24. Topics include: Weight loss, “Brokeback Mountain” and the elderly.
