Grammys 2014 FAQ: Where to watch the show, the pre-show, the fashion

UPDATE: Follow our Grammys live coverage here

The Grammy Awards: So many performances, very few trophies, and almost guaranteed to run late. Look for a bunch of random collaborations — Sara Bareilles with Carole King; Kendrick Lamar with Imagine Dragons; Daft Punk with Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers — along with nominees/performers Lorde, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, late-addition Madonna and more. (And of course, special appearances by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.)

Meanwhile, Jay Z leads everyone with nine nominations; tied next in line with seven nods are Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Here’s everything you need to know to tune in for Sunday’s show:

Where to watch:

Sunday, January 26 on CBS, starting at 8 p.m. — we can say that with certainty, as there’s no football to mess up the network’s Sunday night schedule as usual.

What time to watch:

Until 11 p.m., give or take a few minutes.

The host:

LL Cool J (also the star of the network’s “NCIS: Los Angeles”) must be doing something right, as he hosts for the third year in a row.

Judging the fashion:

The red carpet at the Grammys is a special experience, and the two-hour “Live from the Red Carpet” on E! kicks off at 6 p.m., hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic. In addition, Kelly Osbourne and Ross Matthews weigh in on all the spectacular fashion choices. If you want to get the party started earlier, Rancic and Osbourne join Terrence Jenkins and George Kotsiopoulos at 4 p.m. to speculate on everything.

Meanwhile, music network Fuse is jumping in this year with a special “2014 Grammy Takeover,” starting at 4 p.m., airing music videos from this year’s Grammy nominees along with past winners, along with footage from the red carpet. (The stream is also available at fuse.tv.)

Who will perform:

Twenty performances will help stretch out the telecast for as long as humanly possible. Billed to play solo are rocker Gary Clark Jr., Hunter Hayes, John Legend, Lorde, country up-and-comer Kacey Musgraves, Katy Perry, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Taylor Swift.

The big musical pairings of the night will include Robin Thicke and Chicago; Nine Inch Nails with Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl and Fleetwod Mac’s Lindsay Buckingham; rapper Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons; Metallica and classical pianist Lang Lang; Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Miranda Lambert in a tribute to late Everly Brother Phil Everly; and Madonna with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert. But what about that Beyonce and Jay Z pairing  reportedly confirmed last week? No sign of it on the latest checklist released by the GRAMMYs, but we’ve seen Beyonce surprise us before.

Live blog:

Be sure to visit washingtonpost.com on Sunday night to follow along with David Malitz and Clinton Yates, who will be weighing in throughout the telecast.
