ACC tournament 2012: Maryland-Wake Forest open thread

Eighth-seeded Maryland (16-14) and ninth-seeded Wake Forest (13-17) open ACC tournament play at noon on Thursday. Depending on where you live, the game is on WDCA-20, WNUV-54 or ESPNU (it’s also online at ESPN3.com).

The Terrapins’ fate rests largely in the hands of sophomore guard Terrell Stoglin, Liz Clarke wrote for Thursday’s paper. Jeff Barker of the Baltimore Sun quotes Stoglin as saying his game is misunderstood and his father saying that Stoglin’s goal right now is to return to Maryland for his junior season.

Wake Forest Coach Jeff Bzdelik, meanwhile, says his team is “in a good place” after improving from 1-15 in the ACC to 4-12 this season. The Demon Deacons will be without senior center Ty Walker, who is suspended for the rest of the season.

The winner of Thursday’s game gets top-seeded North Carolina in the quarterfinals on Friday.

This is your open thread for Maryland-Wake Forest. Leave your predictions, in-game thoughts, etc., in the comments.
