Maryland AD Kevin Anderson expresses sympathy for former Terp Torrey Smith

September 23, 2012

In a statement released Sunday, Maryland athletics director Kevin Anderson offered condolences, on behalf of the university, to former Terp Torrey Smith, whose younger brother Tevin was killed this morning in a Northern Virginia motorcycle crash. He was 19 years old.

“On behalf of the University of Maryland family, we were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Torrey Smith’s brother, Tevin,” Anderson said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Torrey and his family during this very difficult time.”

An all-ACC wide receiver in 2010 and Maryland’s career leader in all-purpose yardage through three seasons in College Park, Smith was picked 58th overall by the Baltimore Ravens in 2011.
