Maryland football to kick off against Temple at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Field at noon on Sept. 8

Maryland football’s first road game of the 2012 season, a Sept. 8 date with Temple at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, will kick off at noon and be broadcast on ESPNU, the network and Big East officials announced Thursday.

For second-year coach Randy Edsall, the game offers a chance to avenge the 38-7 drubbing that Temple handed Maryland at Byrd Stadium early last season.

The Terrapins are scheduled to open the 2012 season against William & Mary Sept. 1 on their new artificial turf field—reportedly an eye-popping design on a gray or black backdrop. That game kicks off at 3 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN3.

After taking on Temple in Philadelphia, Maryland returns home for a 12:30 p.m. game Sept. 15 against Edsall’s former program, Connecticut, which will air regionally on the ACC Network.

Edsall is expected to join Maryland basketball coaches Mark Turgeon and Brenda Frese for a “Terps on Tour” session with fans next Thursday, June 14, at the Greene Turtle in Columbia. The evening begins with a meet-and-greet session at 6 p.m., followed by a short program at 7 p.m.
