The biggest question of the week among fans — which uniform design will Maryland wear Saturday? — will soon be answered.
Maryland’s four captains — linebacker Kenny Tate, offensive lineman Andrew Gonnella, defensive lineman Joe Vellano and running back Davin Meggett — voted on which of the more than 30 Under Amour-designed uniform combinations the Terrapins would wear against the Mountaineers.
Terrapins Coach Randy Edsall will reveal the choice for each game every Wednesday throughout the season on his Twitter account. (No word on whether LeBron James, who criticized Maryland’s state-flag look against Miami, is a follower of Edsall’s account.)
Edsall said he is “sworn to secrecy” on the choice, but he did acknowledge that he believes Saturday’s uniform is the “best combination” of all the possibilities. For what it’s worth, Edsall previously said in an ESPN television interview that he personally favored the all-black uniform look.
Edsall has enjoyed the national attention that his team’s bold uniform designs have generated.
“If this university had to go and pay for that publicity,” Edsall said, “we’d be broke. I know Boomer [Esiason] had it on his set [during the CBS studio show Sunday]. [ESPN] GameDay wants to know what we’re going to be wearing. Anytime somebody is talking about you I think it’s all good.”
