Terps will wear ‘White Ops’ uniforms vs. West Virginia

Look out, West Virginia. Maryland has new uniforms.

The Terrapins will debut their “White Ops” jerseys Saturday against the Mountaineers, per a press release. Check them out over at the D.C. Sports Bog.

The uniforms have a black, white and gray base color scheme with red shoelaces, a red number outline and a red “MARYLAND” on the jersey’s front. A custom “Mariflage” pattern is seen inside the numbers.

“Inspired by the Terps’ 2011 PRIDE uniforms featuring the Maryland state flag, the White Ops version makes a more discreet statement as the Terps hit the road,” the press release said.

Oregon released images of its road all-white jerseys earlier this year, while rumors have Arizona debuting an all-white look against the Ducks this week. Those have regularly drawn comparisons to the stormtroopers from Star Wars. At first glance, these “White Ops” jerseys seem more ghost-like, at least based on the muted color scheme and hints of gray scattered throughout.

Fan reception seems to be positive so far. Twitter reactions have ranged from “TOUGH!” to “Tight looking” to “OH MY GOD. YES!”
