Maryland football vs. Notre Dame: Terps lose to Irish, lose Danny O’Brien for the year

As if Saturday night’s 45-21 loss to Notre Dame was bad enough for Maryland, the news got worse after the game when Coach Randy Edsall revealed that quarterback Danny O’Brien, last season’s ACC rookie of the year, will miss the Terrapins’ remaining two games with a broken bone in his upper left arm.

O’Brien, who started Saturday’s game, was hurt midway through the third quarter when he was brought down hard by Fighting Irish linebacker Dan Fox.

Maryland-Notre Dame game stats here.

At this point, I’m not sure what’s left to talk about. The Terrapins (2-8) are two losses away from matching the single-season program record set two years ago. Feel free to vent, talk about the basketball season that starts Sunday night against UNC Greensboro or simply reminisce over happier times in the comments.

Speaking of basketball season, check out Liz Clarke’s profile of first-year Terrapins coach Mark Turgeon, who says he “wants to be the next Gary Williams at Maryland.”
