Zack Bolno is leaving his position as the Washington Wizards’ director of basketball communications to become the University of Maryland’s senior associate athletics director of media relations and strategic communications, the school announced.
Bolno’s last day was with the Wizards organization was Wednesday. He replaces Doug Dull, who stepped down to launch a sports communications firm.
“I am looking forward to working with a dedicated staff and the many talented student-athletes and accomplished coaches who represent this outstanding university,” Bolno said.
Bolno spent last season with the Wizards in his second stint with the club. He also served as director of basketball communications from 2004 through ’08.
In 2008 and 2009, Bolno was executive director of communications for the Washington Redskins.
“We are excited to welcome Zack to the Terrapin family,” Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson said. “He has a tremendous professional background and strong local media ties. Zack will be a considerable asset to Maryland athletics and will shape our communications strategy and help to lead this department.”
