Maryland linebacker Alex Twine earns ACC rookie of the week honors

Hats off to Maryland’s 17-year-old linebacker Alex Twine, who played well in Saturday’s 45-21 loss to Notre Dame. Twine earned ACC rookie of the week honors. This from the ACC office:

ROOKIE - Alex Twine, Maryland, Fr., LB, 6-0, 220, Gaithersburg, Md.

Twine posted a career-best 12 tackles in Maryland’s 45-21 loss to Notre Dame. In just his third career start, the sure-tackling outside linebacker posted 3.0 tackles for loss, the most by any Terrapin defender this season, and one sack. Twine has played in all 10 games, but has averaged 10.0 tackles in his three starts.

And the applause you heard about an hour ago came from my home because now I don’t have to fight deadline with the Maryland-North Carolina State game. The game is set for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff from Raleigh.

Here’s the entire ACC schedule for the games on Thanksgiving weekend:

Saturday, Nov. 26
