The commitment of linebacker Abner Logan of the Dexter School in Brookline, Mass., gave Maryland’s recruiting class a significant boost in mid-December. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound Logan runs a 4.57 40-yard dash and can squat 455 pounds, according to Rivals.com.
After his commitment, Logan gave an interview to the Web site and said he selected Maryland over North Carolina State and Northwestern. Logan was recruited by schools as a linebacker as well as a running back, but he is expected to play linebacker at Maryland.
“The location helped a lot,” Logan told Rivals.com. “I have a lot of family around that way, and that helps out. I also felt more comfortable there during my visit. I just had that feeling if you know what I mean.”
Logan had visited N.C. State before visiting Maryland in early December.
“I really liked the reputation they have for their business school and just how I felt comfortable during my visit,” Logan told the Web site. “It came down to feeling comfortable, the location and the coaching staff. And I know I can get a good education there.”
