The excitement over the West Virginia game was tempered a bit with Thursday night’s news that Maryland wide receivers Ronnie Tyler and Quintin McCree had been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
University Police say Tyler was involved in an off-campus altercation very early on Thursday morning. He has been charged with second-degree assault, a misdemeanor. McCree was at the scene but was not involved in the altercation, police said.
Without Tyler and McCree, Maryland has only three wide receivers — Kevin Dorsey, Kerry Boykins and Tony Logan — who have ever caught a collegiate pass. Those three players had a combined 26 catches in 2010, though Dorsey had eight catches for 124 yards and Boykins had two catches for 40 yards against Miami in the opener.
But what do you think? Will the absence of Tyler and McCree affect the outcome of Saturday’s game? The two combined for 13 catches, 82 yards and a touchdown against Miami.
