Terps football to host military appreciation day against Georgia Tech

Coinciding with the debut of the Maryland football team’s new Pride uniforms, the Terps will celebrate Military and Veterans Appreciation Day, honoring service members during Saturday’s ACC matchup against Georgia Tech. The full press release, courtesy of Maryland PR, is below:

More than 4,000 veteran and active-duty military personnel have been invited to Saturday’s game vs. Georgia Tech, and complimentary tickets have been provided by Capital One Bank and the University of Maryland.

At halftime, 300 military veterans will be recognized on the field and Maryland’s band, `The Mighty Sound of Maryland,’ will perform the Armed Forces Salute.

Prior to the game, active service members will be participating in the pre-game flag presentation during the national anthem.

The Student Advisory Committee will also be hosting a canned food drive to support Capital Area Food Bank. Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at all gates of Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.

And, for pregame reading, the story of lessons imparted on Terps left tackle Mike Madaras by his father, a Marine who served during the 1983 Beirut bombings.
