Good morning from Comcast Center, where Maryland (18-8, 6-7 ACC) will host Clemson (13-12, 5-8), fighting to keep its slim NCAA tournament hopes alive. Tip off is at 12 p.m., broadcast on ESPN2 (Carter Blackburn and Jay Williams have the call) and the typical Terrapin Sports Radio Network affiliates.
Check out the pregame reading below, drop your thoughts into the discussion thread and find me on Twitter here. But first, some quick notes:
>> Today’s print advance checked in with transfer Evan Smotrycz, who’s still busy working on the Terps scout team and preparing for next season. Some deleted scenes from that interview will be posted sometime this weekend. Smotrycz says he used to watch Maryland games growing up, and that he was always a Terps fan, which I’m sure there aren’t many of in Reading, Mass.
>> Former Maryland coach Lefty Driesell will be honored at halftime.
>> The Terps will wear their standard home white jerseys. No Under Armour surprises this time around.
>> Maryland had shot better than 40 percent in seven consecutive games before shooting just 35.7 percent at Boston College. But the Terps are shooting 50.7 percent at home this season.
>> Logan Aronhalt’s seven three-pointers against Boston College were the most by a Maryland player since Mike Jones hit nine on Dec. 28, 2006. Aronhalt’s 26 points that night were a season-high for any Maryland player this season.
