Maryland basketball vs. Wake Forest: Open discussion thread

(Associated Press)

Greetings from the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, otherwise known as the arena that gobbles up word counts and spits them into your face. Maryland (19-9, 7-8 ACC) tips off against Wake Forest (12-15, 5-10) at noon. The last time these two teams faced off on Feb. 2, the Terps scored on seven of their first eight possessions, including 10 points in the paint, and rolled to an 86-60 rout in College Park.

It’s Senior Day for the Demon Deacons, who will honor guards C.J. Harris (14.9 ppg), Spencer Jennings and Will Murphy in a pregame ceremony. Also in the house is legendary Wake Forest guard Chris Paul, who will have his jersey retired during halftime. So it’s both Senior Day and Chris Paul Day. Exciting times in Winston-Salem.

Paul spoke with reporters for about 10 minutes, relaying some solid stories about his time at Wake Forest. The Los Angeles Clippers star and reigning NBA All-Star Game MVP brought his son — also named Chris — but joked that “he doesn’t realize what’s going on.”

“One of these days,” Paul said, “I’ll bring him over here, and he’ll realize that I wasn’t so bad.”

When the younger Chris was born, Paul added, Wake Forest Athletic Director Ron Wellman sent the family a letter-of-intent. “Best baby gift we got,” Paul said.

Moving on to today’s action, you know the routine by now. Links are below, I’m on Twitter and the comment section is open. Thanks for reading and enjoy your Saturday.
