NEW YORK — Good evening from Madison Square Garden, where Maryland (25-12, 8-10 ACC) tips off against Iowa (24-12, 9-9 Big Ten) in the National Invitational Tournament semifinals. The projected start time is around 9:30 p.m., but that all depends on BYU-Baylor, tonight’s opening act. Both games are broadcast on ESPN2.
One quick note: Maryland officially announced that it will open next season on Nov. 8, 2013 against Connecticut at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, confirming Friday’s report. The Terps and Huskies haven’t met since March 24, 2002 during Maryland’s national title run.
“It was a great experience to play at a first-class facility like Barclays Center last season,” athletics director Kevin Anderson said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to returning and taking on a great opponent in front of an energetic and enthusiastic crowd.”
Tickets, according to the release, will “go on sale soon” at Ticketmaster or the Barclays Center Web site.
