The Maryland women’s basketball team will play Ohio State at Comcast Center in next season’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 5. The Terrapins are 6-0 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, which has been extended through 2016.
The Terrapins advanced to the NCAA tournament’s round of 16 last season before losing to eventual national champion Connecticut, 76-50. Maryland has back all but one starter from last season, when it finished 26-8 despite season-ending injuries to starting off-guard Laurin Mincy and projected starting point guard Brene Moseley.
Next season’s game against the Buckeyes, who had earned 13 straight NCAA tournament berths prior to this past season, will mark the fifth meeting between the schools. Maryland won the most recent game, 77-53, during the inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge in 2007 in College Park.
Next season will be Maryland’s last as a member of the ACC. The Terrapins are set to join the Big Ten in 2014-15.
The Maryland men’s basketball team also will face Ohio State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. That game will take place in Columbus, Ohio, Dec. 4.
