Maryland football draws noon kickoff for Florida State

September 29, 2013

The Maryland football team will make its first appearance on ESPN since 2011 next weekend, when the Terrapins visit No. 8 Florida State for a noon kickoff in Tallahassee.

The Seminoles, who beat Boston College, 48-34, on the road Saturday, face their second straight opponent coming off a bye week, but return to the familiarity of Doak Campbell Stadium. Maryland hasn’t played at Byrd Stadium since Sept. 7 against Old Dominion. The Terps  traveled to Connecticut on Sept. 14 and hosted West Virginia in Baltimore on Sept. 21.

This matchup features a battle of ACC Atlantic Division unbeatens, both 4-0. Florida State has a potentially season-changing date with Clemson the week after, while Maryland can assert its relevancy as a legitimate conference contender with a strong performance, and could break into the Associated Press top 25 rankings with some helpful movement ahead of them.

Georgia Tech-Miami and Clemson-Syracuse, the other two games that received a six-day option by ESPN, will both kick off at 3:30 p.m., the network announced.
