Despite a concussion that knocked him from Saturday’s loss at Florida State and rendered him day-to-day, Maryland quarterback C.J. Brown remains the starter on the team’s latest depth chart, posted Monday afternoon
Caleb Rowe, who spelled Brown after he left the game late in the first half, is listed as the backup. But because ACC rules don’t require coaches to release a detailed injury report until Thursday, this comes as little surprise.
Still, it offers some reassurance that the Terrapins are hopeful Brown will return this weekend against Virginia, for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Byrd Stadium in the team’s home ACC opener.
Other depth chart changes of note:
>> Defensive lineman Zeke Riser, a graduate student transfer from Houston who made his Maryland debut last Saturday, moves into the depth chart for the first time as a backup defensive end behind Keith Bowers.
This shuffles Andre Monroe to the backup nose tackle spot behind Darius Kilgo.
>> Wide receiver Nigel King returns to the two-deep as the backup to Malcolm Culmer, though he started versus Florida State after suffering a leg injury against Connecticut and missing the subsequent week versus West Virginia.
King caught three passes for 46 yards in Tallahassee, but lost a fumble.
>> Backup kicker Adam Greene suffered a hip injury during practice last week and missed the Florida State trip, so Maryland removed him the depth chart in favor of Brendan Magistro, who will back up Brad Craddock unless Greene gets healthy.
Magistro spelled Craddock on extra points last season when the Australian import struggled.
