Injured Maryland linebacker Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil announced via Twitter on Friday that he had successful surgery to repair the torn pectoralis that ended his season. The junior, who transferred before last season from Division II Seton Hill and quickly became one of the team’s most vocal leaders, suffered the injury last weekend at home against Virginia.

Technically a backup outside linebacker behind Marcus Whitfield, Cudjoe-Virgil was thriving in defensive coordinator Brian Stewart’s blitz-heavy 3-4 scheme. His 3.0 sacks ranked third on the team, trailing only Whitfield and nose tackle Andre Monroe.

#finao means “failure is not an option.” Had to look that one up.
